Vocally, he’s up there in the top ten, I reckon. Hence why he’s the voiceover king (along with Andrew Lincoln, Rupert Penry-Jones and Idris Elba). Smooth and assured, his vocals are pleasingly even-toned. He does, however, also have many other fine points to consider: twinkling eyes, a sexily furrowed brow, a half-smirk, and the charisma to pull them all together. As far back as This Life, he was on the WOULD radar; and his charm has only increased as the years have gone by. Silver hairs emerging and soft laughter lines appearing — these are the mark of a sex-symbol who is ‘ready’. Arise, Sir Davenport, for you are knighted for services to sexual fantasies.
