After his impressive performance at the Olympic opening ceremony with his band, I was reminded of the quiet sexiness of this front man. And, indeed, the fact that he is getting better with age. He used to look a bit of a Sheffield ragamuffin, but as the years go by he is growing into his looks and a very elegant, handsome man is emerging. Like them or not (and I’m not a huge fan of the music — but can appreciate their talent), the Arctic Monkeys are an excellent example of what is quite ace about British music: they’re offbeat, witty, creative, clever, and fearless. Turner himself is a jocular and waggish young dude, whose intelligence is palpable. I’m sure his star will continue to rise, and hopefully he will also continue to get fitter (I always like to lower the tone and make sure this blog stays as shallow as possible).
